Stuart - The question of what you should get training on and when comes down to the value of your productive time. Form-Z has a steep learning curve (which you probably already have experienced). The tutorial tools available through www.formz.com, as well as other sources, do a great job of getting you going in first gear (if I can use a car analogy), but don’t do a good job at telling you how to shift to second gear, never mind 5th. (Sorry, no automatic transmissions for learning software).

Getting past 1st gear is why my introduction training is valuable. It will get you over the hump of starting the engine and driving in 1st. My “intro” students have continuously stated the value in the introduction training is not simply founded in the demonstrating of Form-Z tools, but the knowledge and methodologies of how to self explore within Form-Z. With the latter, you can get yourself into the mid range gears. After that, you can bring someone like myself to help you with 5th gear, advanced information on modeling, materials, lighting, rendering.

Your time is valuable, why waste it fumbling with the keys and the clutch. Once in second and third gear, you can be productive and quickly teach yourself. Later, address the decision to go with the focused advanced training.
